The Hitch-hacker’s Guide to the Galaxy’s Edge: 2025 in Cyber Stats

We’re big fans of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy here at Eclypsium. We know as well as you that 42 is the answer to the question of the meaning of life, the universe, and everything. So in honor of the release of version 4.2 of our Supply Chain Security Platform, we pulled together a recap of some of the biggest cyber stats of the year from our own R&D and the broader cybersecurity research community. We made this video so you can see what we see. Think of it as a Spotify Wrapped for the cyber risk universe in 2025.

In 2025, Eclypsium analyzed millions of firmware binaries, and scanned hundreds of thousands of endpoints, servers, network devices, and AI servers for known and unknown risks. We added detection capabilities for thousands of CVEs and known exploited vulnerabilities, including some discovered by our own research team. When the F5 breach, the HybridPetya UEFI ransomware, and the first BMC vulnerability on the CISA KEV hit the news, we were there, helping our customers detect and respond faster.

In the spirit of Ford Prefect, we scoured the internet, NVD database, and hundreds of cybersecurity reports to surface some of the most interesting facts around. Vulnerability exploitation and network device attacks hockey-sticked in the past year, with a 34% increase reported in the most recent Verizon Data Breach Investigation Report (DBIR). Eclypsium responded by diving deep into vulnerable network firmware and boosting our integrity database into the stratosphere (32 million binaries and rising).

If you want to learn more about how all this research and knowledge gathering makes Eclypsium the leading IT Infrastructure Supply Chain Security Company, dive into our latest product tour. We’ll show you how to quickly understand your network edge security posture, then dive into a rapid investigation of a BRICKSTORM backdoor infection on an F5 device. Make sure to finish the tour because there might be Hitch-hacker’s Guide themed prizes at the end ;-). Dive in, and don’t forget to bring a towel!
